After Surgery Procedure:
You will be helped to sit up within an hour after surgery. You will be encouraged to walk after the surgery, and you will be helped to stand and start walking with a walker the same day.
On the day after the operation, you will be taught how to go to the restroom, followed by climbing stairs.
On the second day, you will be shown exercises to tighten and loosen the kneecap, ankle, and foot movements. You should do this exercise every 15-20 times. This will help mobilise your knee.
On the third and fourth days, you will increase the knee flexion exercises and walk with the help of walkers 3-4 times a day. As you gain confidence, you will be allowed to go up and down the stairs, do some exercise on your own, and sit in a chair.
Important Advice:
It is advisable to avoid placing a pillow or a towel under the knee to prevent flexion
deformity.
Is robotic surgery better than conventional manual knee replacement surgery?
As compared to traditional knee replacement surgery, robotic knee replacement has a lot of rewards in terms of higher implant alignment, precise surgical bone cuts, no human error, faster recovery, and a shorter hospital stay. Considering it is minimally invasive, it causes less tissue trauma and, thus, less blood loss and faster recovery.
